Who’s directing your movie?

Madison MacGregor

Our life is like a movie, and each of us are the main characters of our own movies.

This movie can be beautifully tragic, it can be happy, hilarious, or anything in-between. The thing is, you are living in this movie, you are the main character, but who is the one directing this movie?

When we are born, the directors of our movie are our parents, teachers, friends, family, and society (which includes the media). We agree with and believe everything they tell us, meaning their beliefs become our own beleifs. This is because as children, we don’t have the AWARENESS that we can direct our movie.

Society is constantly telling us what we must be in order to be enough. We are told that we need to fit an image,   and that we will be good enough once we fit this image. We can choose to agree with what…

As the great Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you’ve said, they will forget what you did, but they will NEVER forget how you made them feel.

There is a universal language that is beyond words, pictures, and all materialistic and objective things. It is a language that all living things understand…it is the language of the heart.

How we communicate is from one heart to another. When we communicate from our hearts instead of our minds we feed our souls and enhance our lives, and the lives of others, beyond measure.

My sisters, Ava and Elle, are the greatest examples of love in my life. Every morning they wake up with a huge smile on their faces, singing away, regardless of how they feel, how late they stayed up the night before, or how much they had to do that day, they always greet me with loving words.

I recently went shopping and saw a shirt in a store that read, “Good things come to those who hustle”.

It feels like hustling is the new “thing.”  We see this being modelled everywhere from the commercials we watch to the books we read. We are conditioned to believe that hustling equals our self-worth and the busier we are and the more we hustle, the greater our self-worth.

We are not born to HUSTLE all the time…to constantly be moving, frantically, busy doing STUFF.

We need to have balance.

Think about the times you feel the most at peace. It isn’t when you are cut for time and struggling to get something finished. You probably feel more peaceful when you take a much needed vacation; laying in the beautiful hot sun and relaxing. Fully present in the moment and happy. This is your true nature…and for this reason our culture LOVES vacations…

Screen Shot 2015-02-03 at 10.43.22 PM My elementary school picture circa 2007

During my entire elementary school education (kindergarten-grade four) I was bullied by classmates I considered my friends. As painful as it was at the time, I am grateful for what I have learned, especially the power and importance of FORGIVENESS.

These “bullies” ended up being some of my friends, and my greatest teachers as a young child. We all “make mistakes” from time to time…but we must learn to understand and forgive ourselves and others for what has happened, knowing that what happened may not have been right, but that it is in the past and it’s behind us.

We have a choice to let go or hold on to our past; whether it is a small conflict, or a major life-changing event. We need to recognize that we can’t change our past. As Oprah says: “Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the…

Gayatri Mantra

Gayatri Mantra ~ Tina Malia:

Thousands of years old, the Gāyatrī Mantra is a highly revered mantra of the Vedic tradition. Just like all the Vedic Mantras, the Gayatri Mantra is believed to to transform the listener into a recipient of divine energy, forgiveness, enlightenment and empowerment. Sound is the primordial matrix from which everything springs. Hum and chant along and reconnect with your deepest self.

The mantra:

Be who you are

One of the most important things I’ve learned in the last 36 years was that you always have to be yourself. Never try to be something other than yourself for someone just to be liked or accepted. The right people who love you just as you are will come into your life and stay. 💖
